Cultivating word power together
Welcome, educators! This is your dedicated space to share, discover, and collaborate on effective strategies for vocabulary comprehension development in elementary grades. Let's grow a community of learners, one word at a time.

Planting the seeds of vocabulary
At comprehension in progress webpage design, we believe teaching vocabulary is like planting a seed. With consistent nurturing, every student can blossom with rich "word petals," becoming fully prepared for middle school by fifth grade. This journey of growth is central to our approach to vocabulary comprehension development.

Share your expertise
We want educators to have a dedicated place where they can share links and resources they find valuable. Bounce ideas and materials around to share with all elementary educators, enriching our collective understanding and practice. Your contributions help strengthen our community.

Explicit instruction across the day
Vocabulary can be explicitly taught in various contexts. Consider integrating new words into morning messages, poems, and during reading and writing small group conferences. When encountering unfamiliar words, jot them down during or before reading. Teach older students how to research new words, then reread the story to deepen comprehension and learning.
